Job Overview
The Outreach Officer (OO) is responsible for managing the social media accounts and increasing the (social) media presence of the European Association of Personality Psychology (EAPP). The OO will also be responsible for coordinating the EAPP’s (social) media activities with those of its journals, the European Journal of Personality (EJP) and Personality Science (PS), and the EJP blog. They promote the EAPP and its various activities (e.g., grants, awards, workshops, regional outreach), among researchers, psychology postgraduate students, and the public. They may also contribute to the EAPP website (www.eapp.org). The OO reports to the EAPP Executive Committee (especially the Secretary) and Advisory Board and liaises with the EJP Research Communication Assistant (RCA).
The role is suitable for an early career researcher and can make a significant contribution to their personal development and academic network. Working for the EAPP can provide the OO with insights into the workings of one of the leading personality research organizations, and can also help them gain a better overview of the field of personality psychology.
Criteria
Academic background (junior researcher/graduate student)
Excellent verbal and written skills in English
Interest in personality psychology
Willingness to engage directly with academics and the public
Experience with social media
Responsibilities and Duties
Managing EAPP’s social media accounts
Increasing EAPP’s social media following
Promoting EAPP’s calls for activities to increase awareness among personality researchers and graduate students
Promoting EAPP at international conferences, on social media, and in public communications
Reporting to the EAPP Executive Committee and Advisory Board
Liaising with the EJP RCA to coordinate the EAPP and EJP and PS activities
Liaising with EJP and PS editors to promote the journals
Liaising with the EAPP Secretary regarding the EAPP website and contributing to the website

This is considered volunteer work. EAPP provides an OO payment of €1500/year (plus reimbursements for travelling). The OO cannot receive by the EAPP more than €2100/year (this includes any payments, compensations, and reimbursements), in compliance with the Dutch regulations for volunteer work.
